More Medians to Get a Facelift
The median rehabilitation work is part of an ongoing effort to beautify the city.

The city is moving forward with another batch of new medians after the City Council approved a grant that will help beautify San Bruno's major thoroughfares.
A $654,000 federal grant was secured from the Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality program to rehabilitate four more medians on El Camino Real and at least one more median on San Bruno Avenue.
Now that the council unanimously approved the project at its Tuesday meeting, the city will pick up the remaining $85,000 needed to complete the project. The city's funds will be coming from its street capital improvement budget.

The work to improve the medians includes removing old trees, planting new trees and shrubs, and installing water-efficient irrigation systems.
The first of the median improvement efforts were made in 2008 and continued in 2011. The current median construction along El Camino Real is still underway.

In addition, the city wants to improve all six of the medians on San Bruno Avenue from El Camino Real to Interstate 280.
However, whether some or all of those medians get rehabilitated depends on available funding.
