San Mateo Police Seek Man Who 'Accosted' Girl Walking to School

The San Mateo Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying a man in a white car who "accosted" a teenage girl on her way to school Wednesday.

The victim, a 16-year-old San Mateo resident, was contacted by the man in a white Honda CRV or similar vehicle at about 8 a.m. in the area of 31st Avenue between Isabelle Avenue and Alameda De Las Pulgas, San Mateo Police Sgt. Dave Norris said.

The man, described as a Filipino male in his 30s, clean shaven and with dark "spikey" hair, made some sexual remarks to the victim as she walked, according to Norris.

The victim walked away, and later told authorities what had occurred. San Mateo police made an extensive area check for the suspect, and conducted saturation patrols of the schools for the remainder of the day.

Officers again searched extensively for the suspect and suspect vehicle Thursday morning, at the place and time of the incident, but have so far been unable to locate the suspect.

The San Mateo Police Department and the San Mateo Unified High School District are working together to share information on this case, safety tips, and will keep open lines of communication as this investigation continues.  

SMPD is asking for the community's assistance. Attached are images containing a sketch of the suspect, and a photo of a vehicle believed to be similar to the suspect's vehicle.

SMPD is asking for any information that the public may have about the incident, or concerning the identity of the suspect given the sketch and vehicle information as attached.
