Walmart Builds Its Own Search Engine
The retail giant's San Bruno office built the new technology to help customers find out what they are looking for faster and to increase sales.

All Things D reported that San Bruno-based @WalmartLabs has built a new search engine that Walmart will be using on its website.
According to All Things D, the search engine was built over the last 10 months and was designed to help customers find items faster when searching on Walmart.com.
The new search engine also has helped the company increase sales.

All Things D continued:
Walmart’s move to managing its own search in-house mimics the behavior of other online retailers, like eBay and Amazon, rather than its conventional brick-and-mortar peers. Online merchants are always fine-tuning the search experience, based on the logic that sales will increase if consumers can find what they are looking for.
