DUI Checkpoint Time And Place Announced For This San Mateo County Town
Police said they will be conducting an upcoming DUI checkpoint and have just announced when and where.
SAN CARLOS, CA — Police will hold a DUI checkpoint Friday in San Carlos and have announced the time and location, police said.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office has planned a DUI checkpoint for 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday on the 700 block of El Camino Real, police said.
Police said they determine checkpoint locations based on data that shows incidents of impaired driving-related crashes.

Police are reminding the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol but also some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Cannabis may be legal to use in California but it is still illegal to drive under the influence, police said.
Drivers convicted of a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, police said.
