Great Deals Don't Fall Far From the Family Tree
The San Carlos thrift store has received a collection of girls' dresses from an upscale children's store.
Anchoring the up-and-coming retail district on the south end of Laurel Street is The Family Tree at 1589 Laurel St., a thrift store deftly run by the Red-Car-Bel Auxiliary, and benefitting Peninsula Family Service (PFS). Since 1968 The Family Tree has donated over $1 million to PFS (formerly known as the Family Service Agency of San Mateo County).
And with spring on the horizon, The Family Tree has recently received a collection of fancy/first communion dresses that were donated (new) by an upscale San Carlos children's boutique.
Linda Westerhouse, The Family Tree's president said the dresses are valued at $65-$95, but the thrift shop is selling them for $20-$35.

And Westerhouse said the shop also has a selection of donated artwork.
"The framed brass rubbing artwork donated to us is quite unique. The larger pieced (23" x 66") is selling for $250 and the smaller (28"x40") is $115.00," said Westerhouse.
