Lock Up, Step Out, and Celebrate National Night Out

Meet San Carlos public safety officials and learn more about community policing at National Night Out Aug. 6.

San Carlos will join thousands of cities across the U.S. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 in celebrating National Night Out. This nationwide event began in the 1970s as a way to get people out of their homes and meet each other with the common purpose of making communities safer by raising crime prevention awareness.

According to Sgt. Craig Denton of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office San Carlos Bureau, National Night Out festivites will take lace from 6-8:30 p.m. at 2125 White Oak Way.

"There will be Sheriff's Office representatives at the event to talk about neighborhood watch and answer questions regarding crime in San Carlos," said Denton.

Sheriff's Captain Greg Rothaus, and School Resource Officer/Neighborhood Watch Coordinator, Walter Rosales will be in attendance to meet with members of the community.  In addition, a member of the Sheriff's Office SWAT team will be on hand with a specialized vehicle.
