San Carlos Dine and Dash Thief Gets Jail Time

Patrick Higgins ran out of Sneakers on March 1 without paying his tab.

The man who ordered, ate, then ran out on a $70 food tab at Sneakers in San Carlos on March 1, pleaded no contest on Wednesday to the charge of felony burglary in San Mateo County Superior Court.

Sheriff's deputies say Patrick Higgins, 43, ran out the rear door of the restaurant and was caught by police officers in downtown San Carlos.

According to San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe, Higgins, a parolee, entered a plea deal in which he will serve 120 days in county jail and three years of supervised probation.

Wagstaffe also said Higgins was ordered to make restitution to Sneakers in the amount of the tab he skipped out on---$70. 24.

Higgins is represented by the Private Defender Program.
