Man Arrested, Accused Of Peninsula Burglary, Theft: SMC

SAN CARLOS, CA — A 22-year-old Vacaville man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft and vehicle tampering, among other offenses, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department reported Thursday night.

The county's Crime Suppression Unit observed suspicious behavior from the man walking on the sidewalk on the 1000 block of Holly Street in San Carlos, appearing to be casing homes. Sheriff’s detectives watched as the subject quickly turned down a residential driveway and walked to the rear of the residence. Moments later, the suspect identified as Delante Brown came walking back out and continued walking on Holly Avenue, detectives said. Brown stated he was just trying to visit his friend but couldn't remember his friend’s name.

Further investigation confirmed Brown had walked to the rear of the driveway and broken into a parked vehicle, the sheriff's department added. The stolen property taken from the vehicle was recovered and later returned to the owner.

Brown was booked into San Mateo County Jail.
