Big SDG&E Crane at Pico and Camino Real Leaves Tonight
The crane has been at the Marblehead Coastal site for the past several days doing emergency utility work, but is leaving after 12 a.m. Friday.

The big crane that has been at the Marblehead Coastal site for the past several days will be trucked away tonight after finishing work on utilities, a city official said.
Akram Hindiyeh of the city engineering department said San Diego Gas and Electric had to use the crane for emergency repairs on its power infrastructure components at the Marblehead site this week.
The huge crane towers over the intersection of Avenida Pico and El Camino Real.

The equipment leaves tonight, however, Hindiyeh said. Motorists should avoid El Camino Real after midnight--SDG&E will truck the behemoth south along the San Clemente thoroughfare to the Calafia exit, where it will roll onto the I-5 Freeway headed south.
