Edison Aims to Drag Out Rate Probe, Critic Says

One California utility ratepayer advocate said it's in Southern California Edison's interest to drag out the California Public Utilities Commission's investigation into its rates.

The commission will decide whether Edison can charge customers for expenses related to the beleaguered San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, which has been shuttered for more than a year.

"Really, the end game here is to draw out the resolution as long as possible," Utility Consumers' Action Network Attorney David Peffer told KPBS, "because as long as this proceeding is ongoing, the costs of San Onofre remain in their rate base, which is how they get their profits."
