Experts, Activists Discuss Anniversary of San Onofre Shutdown

KPBS out of San Diego assembled the experts Thursday, even as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission decides whether to let the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station to partially restart.

Nine experts and activists discussed the implications of the one-year anniversary of the troubled San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station's shut down after a leak of radioactive steam.

Included in the panel assembled and broadcast by KPBS Public Radio in San Diego Thursday is San Clemente's Gary Headrick, who has helped spearhead the movement to close the plant for good.

Meanwhile, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is continuing its process to decide in spring whether it will allow the least-damaged part of the plant to restart at partial power.
