Forecast Of Fog In San Clemente: Low Nighttime Visibility
The National Weather Service predicts nighttime fog across Orange County through Friday.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — If you have to take a nighttime drive in San Clemente Thursday or Friday, make sure you take it easy and play it safe. The National Weather Service predicts nighttime fog continuing across Orange County and in San Clemente, with visibility one quarter mile or less as the night goes on.

If you plan on driving in foggy situations, the National Weather Service asked you to keep the following in mind while planning your commute:
- Never use your high-beam lights.
- Using high-beam lights causes glare, making it more difficult for you to see what's ahead of you on the road.
- Slow down your vehicle down.
- Allow extra time to reach your destination.
- Make your vehicle visible to others ahead of you and behind you.
- Do this by using your low-beam headlights, since this means your taillights will also be on. Use fog lights if your vehicle has them.
- Leave a healthy gap between vehicles.
- Leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you to account for sudden stops or changes in traffic pattern.
- Ensure you are staying in the proper lane.
- You can do this by making sure to follow the lines of the road with your eyes.
In extremely dense fog with low visibility, the National Weather Service said the best thing to do is to turn on your vehicle's hazard lights, and pull into a safe location. If you are driving on a freeway or highway, pull your vehicle off to the side of the road and turn off all lights except your hazard flashing lights.
