The local version of Occupy Wall Street's anti-financial corruption movement is set to march through Irvine and host speakers at its "People's Village" campground.

The Orange County branch of Occupy Wall Street is holding a protest in Irvine on Saturday.
The protests, , got a boost when organizers persuaded the Irvine City Council to waive the city's no-camping law so protesters could create a "Peoples' Village" on the northeast corner of Harvard Avenue and Alton Parkway.
Before the council granted the exemption, protesters organized in shifts to march the streets all night.

“We urge citizens to join us at The Peoples' Village to express concern about the corruption in our financial, economic, educational and environmental systems," Occupy OC organizers said in a press release. "The Peoples’ Village is now available as a legal, peaceful and nonviolent space to have your voice heard, educate yourself about what’s happening in the occupy movement and be counted as a citizen who believes in direct action democracy.”
Organizers said they would march at 11 a.m. and host speakers starting at 6:30 p.m.
