Planning Commission to Review General Plan

Commissioners will get an overview of the draft plan and develop a schedule for hearings moving forward.

A comprehensive package of zoning and land use decisions will be under review by the San Clemente Planning Commission this week.

The Centennial General Plan will govern development and city projects through 2028, according to city staff reports.

The city hired the Planning Center as a consultant to help guide the process and appointed a General Plan Advisory Committee to develop the elements in the plan, which span everything from bicycle paths, to street landscaping, to preserving ocean views and emergency planning for a potential meltdown at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.

Once the planning commission has made its tweaks and changes to the draft, the plan will come before the San Clemente City Council for approval.

The Planning Commission meets at 4 p.m. Wednesday a the San Clemente Civic Center, 100 Avenida Presidio.
