San Clemente Unveils Kabul Bombing Plaque Memorial Day
The bronze plaque honors the 13 service members who were killed in August during the bombing of Kabul's airport.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — A memorial honoring the 13 service members who were killed during the bombing of Kabul's airport last year was unveiled in San Clemente during the city's Memorial Day Ceremony, the Orange County Register reported.
The bronze plaque is located in Park Semper Fi in San Clemente. Residents heard a special tribute to the 13 service members who were killed during the attack in August. Three of the service members were from Southern California and several of them were Marines from Camp Pendleton.
“We’re bombarded by all sorts of news that we tend to forget tragedies like this that happened,” Former San Clemente Mayor Will Eggleston told the OC Register. “I never want this tragedy to be forgotten.”
