SDG&E Aims to Bury Power Lines in 2013

The San Clemente City Council will hear a proposal to expand the area around Del Mar where the utility will remove overhead wires.

San Diego Gas & Electric is planning to start burying powerlines around Avenida Del Mar starting in mid 2013.

The San Clemente City Council Tuesday will hear a proposal to expand the undergrounding project up and down Del Mar to include the alleyway from that street to Avenida Rosa.

The original project plan extends from El Camino Real down Del Mar to the , also including Avenida Cabrillo and parts of Ola Vista. (See the map attached to this article.)

The cost of construction will be paid by SDG&E. The final design will likely be finished by the fall, when the utility will hold public meetings for residents and business owners, according to a city staff report.
