A Solution for 'At-Home' Bible Studies

The Capistrano Dispatch reports that a San Juan Capistrano couple fined for holding bible studies at their home without a permit may now host their meetings in a community clubhouse.

Hosting a bible study at a San Juan Capistrano home may come at a cost, but religious gatherings at community clubhouses are free.

The Capistrano Dispatch reported Thursday that in the midst of promising meetings with city officials, residents Charles and Stephanie Fromm were told they may congregate in their community's Mission Hills clubhouse without recourse.

The couple was fined earlier this year when a neighbor complained their bible studies, which had drawn as many as 50 people, were creating traffic and parking problems. The city code requires residents obtain special permits for religious and fraternal gatherings in residential zones.
