Paseo de Verdugo preps for demolition; city approves the removal of 10 trees at Mission Basilica and the water treatment plant produces 73 percent of the city's water supply so far this month.

PASEO DE VERDUGO: A pre-construction meeting was held Tuesday to begin demolition of the existing structure, adjacent to the Capistrano Depot, and then grading and construction of a new building before the demolition permit expires Dec. 11.
BASILICA TREE REMOVALS: The city received an application to remove three blue gum eucalyptus trees and eight California pepper trees. The City authorized removal all of the trees and required a replant plan be submitted for Planning Commission review.
ARIZONA CROSSING: Public Works crews cleaned the pile of dirt at the Lemon Grove and made preparations to repair of the Arizona crossing.

ATHLETIC FIELDS: The city’s athletic fields were closed sporadically during the rain last week. The fields may be affected again when it rains. Contact the City’s "mudline" for current athletic field conditions (949) 487-4318.
GYMNASIUM: The city gym will be closed Nov. 14-21 to resurface the floor.

BROKEN SEWER MAIN: Staffers worked with Sunbelt Rentals to set-up the bypass pumps needed for installation of the new liner in the working for Caltrans on 5 freeway widening project.
GROUNDWATER RECOVERY PLANT: During the month of November, the water treatment plan produced an average of 3.68 million gallons daily, or 11.3 acre feet per day. Production to date since the start of the fiscal year in July is 1,412.84 acre feet—headed towards the target of 3,500 acre feet.
To date for the month of November, the plant has produced more than 72.9 percent of the city’s water supply.
DEL OBISPO STREET BRIDGE WIDENING: The project contractor constructed forms and installed steel for the walls and deck of the storm drain outlet at the east side of Trabuco Creek and for the sheet pile caps. They also started backfilling for the wall constructed along Paseo Adelanto, south of Del Obispo Street. Additionally, they poured concrete for the east abutment, sheet pile caps, and the drainage outlet invert.
