City Manager's Update: Nov. 4, 2011

A few more businesses apply for amnesty, the Mission Basilica asks to uproot 10 trees and the city's water treatment plant produces an average of 4 million gallons of water in October.

FINANCE: Work continued this week on the city’s annual audit for the fiscal year that ended June 30. It is anticipated that the audit will be completed in late November or early December. Finance staffers continue to work on a report for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30.

BUSINESS LICENSE AMNESTY: The business license division mailed a total of 488 notification letters over the past two weeks to businesses that have received a notice of violation for not having a business license and to businesses that have not renewed their licenses from the prior year.

Since the letters were mailed, the city has processed 16 renewals, seven requests to close business licenses, 82 return to sender mailings (likely due to business relocations), 15 response letters, and 30 to 40 inquiries.

GROUNDWATER RECOVERY PLANT: Between Oct. 1 and Oct. 26 the water treatment plant produced an average of 4 million gallons daily, or 12.28 acre feet per day. On Oct. 7 and 8, it operated at 100 percent capacity, with no water imports.

Production to date for this fiscal year has been 1,253 acre feet, headed toward the target of 3,500 acre feet.

TUTTLE-CLICK CAPISTRANO FORD: The applicant submitted revised plans to reduce building additions and remove a proposed tower. The Design Review Committee will review the new plans on Nov. 17.

DOG PARK: Advisory boards will review the park plans November through February with an anticipated City Council review in March 2012.

DEL OBISPO STREET BRIDGE WIDENING: In the past week, the contractor stripped forms for the pier at the west side of the creek. Crews worked on forms for the wall south of Del Obispo Street along Paseo Adelanto, and they poured concrete for another section. They also constructed forms and installed steel for the abutments. They started vibrating in the permanent sheet piles, which will protect the pier and pier nose foundations.
