A man and a woman were found shot dead inside a business in downtown San Clemente today and the case was being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said.

A sheriff’s SWAT team found the bodies after responding to a shooting call about 2 p.m. inside a clothing store called Bliss Boutique, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

No one was in custody and no suspect was believed to be at large, he said.

The sheriff’s deparment reported that a handgun was recovered at the store, which is located at 167 Avenida Del Mar.

The relationship between the deceased, if any, was not immediately available, Hallock said, but Jeff Chambers, a witness who was having lunch nearby, told reporters at the scene that a girl who works at the boutique came out and said her boss, who was going through a difficult divorce, was grabbed and taken into a back room by her husband before shots were fired.
