Rain Returns

Less than 1 inch of rainfall is forecast, with as much as 5 inches of snow expected to fall in San Diego and Riverside county mountains.

Another cold Pacific storm is "digging down on the West Coast," forecasters said.

That means more rain, gusty winds and cold temperatures, as well as snow in local mountains.

There's a 90 percent chance of showers Sunday in San Juan Capistrano, where the high will be 60 degrees and the low 42.

The system will not be quite as wet as Friday's storm, National Weather Service forecasters said. But it will be potent enough to bring periods of moderate rain and further accumulating snow in the higher mountains.

Rain should begin falling around sunrise over Orange and San Bernardino counties. Less than 1 inch is expected.

Elevations as low as 4,000 feet will see snow. Accumulations of as much as 5 inches are possible above 4,500 feet in the mountains in San Diego and Riverside counties. Less snow is likely in the San Bernardino mountains.

The rain and snow showers should end late Sunday night. Warmer, dry weather will return Monday. Temperatures will heat up slightly throughout the week, reaching 70 degrees on Thursday.
