• Solana Beach approves resolution against offshore drilling (sandiegouniontribune.com) — A proposed expansion of offshore drilling along California’s coast is drawing opposition from local leaders, including U.S. Rep. Mike Levin of San Juan Capistrano, who has introduced a bill to ban such drilling. Solana Beach’s City Council just passed a resolution against new leases, citing tourism and environmental risks, and a public comment period on the federal plan runs through Jan. 23.
