Kelli Groves, a first-grade teacher at , remains at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara following Thursday's dramatic crash in Buellton, but her condition has been upgraded to fair, according to a Santa Barbara TV news report.

Meanwhile, Groves' 10-week-old baby girl, Milo, has arrived back home and is in the care of family members. A Santa Barbara firefighter credited a properly installed infant car seat with saving the baby's life.
The family was driving north on the 101 when their BMW was hit by a big-rig truck. The truck fell 100 feet off a bridge to Nojoqui CreekΒ below while the BMW teetered halfway off the bridge's ledge.
