Friendship, Music, and Magic Come Alive in “The Golden Wish” — A New Musical Premiering in Pasadena

A Story About Finding Where You Belong in life, one that blends fantasy, humor, and human truth in a way only music can express!

Something truly magical is coming to Pasadena area this Thanksgiving season. The Golden Wish, a brand-new original musical composed by Emmy Award–winning composer Nathan Wang, will make its world premiere for two special performances on November 24 and 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the AGBU Performing Arts Center.

As someone who has known Nathan Wang for many years, I’ve had the privilege of seeing his creativity and heart up close. Nathan isn’t just an extraordinary composer — he’s also a humble, kind, and generous soul who never forgets the community around him. Whether he’s composing for Jackie Chan’s films, working on international concert scores, or mentoring young artists, Nathan always brings warmth and sincerity to everything he does.

Now, with The Golden Wish, Nathan teams up with writer Johs Wu and producer Evelyn Xu, p.g.a., to bring an inspiring story to life — one that blends fantasy, humor, and human truth in a way only music can express.

A Story About Finding Where You Belong

When he discovers a magical wish meant for him at birth, he uses it to make everyone love him — only to realize that love without honesty is empty. His journey becomes a touching reminder that being truly loved begins with being true to yourself.
