4 Arrested After Lululemon Theft, Escape In A Stolen Car, Police Chase

Police in the Bay Area said the theft ring briefly escaped with nearly $10,000 in clothing before fleeing through a half-dozen cities.

SAN MATEO, CA — Four suspects arrested last week are accused of stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise from the Hillsdale Shopping Center and fleeing from police in a stolen car.

According to the San Mateo Police Department, a witness reported the incident at a Lululemon a few minutes before 2 p.m. Thursday. The witness told dispatchers three people grabbed several items of clothing and fled into a waiting Subaru Outback that sped off toward Highway 101.

Officers arrived at the store and learned nearly $10,000 of clothing was missing from the store, police said. Members of the Organized Retail Theft Task Force deployed to find the vehicle and spotted it heading north on the highway toward San Francisco. Police said the driver was acting recklessly, putting other drivers and pedestrians at risk, causing officers to pause the pursuit for safety concerns.
