7 Kids Arrested in San Mateo After Running from Stolen Vehicle

Officers responding to a call say the juveniles were spotted rummaging through a car that had been reported stolen in Redwood City.

SAN MATEO, CA -- Seven juveniles, ages 14 to 17, were arrested early Friday morning after being seen by police rummaging through a stolen vehicle, and then leading officers on a foot chase, San Mateo police said.

Officers were called to the first block of South Fremont Street on reports of suspicious people rummaging through a car. Officers arrived to see several juveniles running from the vehicle -- which police say had been reported stolen out of Redwood City.

After they were chased down by police, the suspects were extremely uncooperative, police said, fighting with officers and giving officers false names.
