Car Thief Who Evaded Police Arrested In San Mateo County: Police
After evading another officer, the man was located and arrested for additional charges, police said.
SAN MATEO, CA — A 22-year-old man wanted for stealing a car was finally stopped in Friday in San Mateo after fleeing from multiple officers, police said.
At 12:20 a.m. on Friday, San Mateo Police Department officers said they attempted to stop a car that was evading an officer in the area of Highway 92 and Highway 280.
SMPD officers said they found the car traveling in the area of Delaware Street and Concar Drive and an officer confirmed the driver was Alexis Hurtadojimenez, who had prior charges for vehicle theft-related crimes.

He also had an outstanding $20,000 warrant, police said.
Police attempted to stop him but he fled the area.

Shortly after, another officer said they saw the same car empty on the 1500 block of S Claremont Street.
Officers said they then found Hurtadojimenez hiding beneath a sink in the corner of an apartment complex laundry room.
Officers arrested Hurtadojimenez and he was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for evading a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer and an outstanding warrant, police said.
