Commission Postpones Release of District Maps

Additional comments are still being sought on the first draft of district boundaries.

The California Citizens Redistricting Commission is asking people to comment on maps of proposed political district boundaries.

Now that the has concluded, the commissioners are tasked with redrawing the lines that separate political districts to “preserve communities of interest,” while shifting them to account for population growth, according to wedrawthelines.ca.gov. New boundaries could affect congressional, state and even district lines.

The release of the second draft of the maps was postponed to July 28, instead of July 14 as was originally announced. Commissioners have met with the technical team that creates the maps to discuss the feedback they have received so far on the first drafts of the boundary maps.
