Deck Fire Burns Home, Displaces Four Residents In Bay Area

The fire department arrived in the early morning to put out a fire that had spread into the home.

SAN MATEO, CA — Firefighters responded to a deck fire early Monday morning in San Mateo that spread into the home, displacing four people, according to the fire department.

The San Mateo Fire Department was first on the scene to a residential fire just after 1 a.m. on Starlite Drive in the Eichler Highlands neighborhood, SMFD said.

The fire started on the deck but spread into the home as crews attempted to extinguish the flames, according to CAL Fire.

All occupants were evacuated and no injuries were reported, SMFD said.

Four people have been displaced due to the fire and the cause is still under investigation, SMFD said.
