Fireworks Ignite 3-Acre Peninsula Blaze
The blaze was reported shortly before 5 p.m. near Roberts Road and Crespi Drive in Pacifica, authorities said.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Fire crews battled a wind-whipped brush fire sparked by fireworks Wednesday evening in Pacifica and kept it from spreading to several nearby homes, fire officials said.
The blaze was reported shortly before 5 p.m. near Roberts Road and Crespi Drive, where firefighters found a half-acre of brush on fire, according to the North County Fire Authority.
The fire was headed toward homes and apartment complexes, but crews managed to push the blaze away from all adjacent structures and kept it to about 3 acres.

Firefighters remained at the scene for 3 1/2 hours completing overhaul and mop-up, and crews will monitor the area overnight for hot spots, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported.

Fire officials said fireworks caused the blaze and the fire would be investigated by the North County Fire Authority and Pacifica Police Department.
