Guns, Sword Found In Bay Area Man's Home Who Assaulted Ex-Girlfriend With Gun: Police

A report stemming from Wednesday morning led to the search warrant at the residence later that day.

SAN MATEO, CA — Police uncovered a large variety of weapons Wednesday night during the search of a San Mateo man's home after his ex-girlfriend accused him of assaulting her with a gun earlier that morning, police said.

The San Mateo Police arrested Daniel Erickson, 55, of San Mateo around 10 p.m. near San Mateo Drive and Bellevue Avenue, police said.

On May 26, Erickson pointed a gun at his ex-girlfriend and told her she couldn't leave, police said.

The victim told them earlier Wednesday morning, according to SMPD.

Officers said they issued a search warrant for Ericksons home and a gun violence restraining order.

At around 10:11 p.m., an officer located Erickson's car near North San Mateo Drive and Bellevue Avenue and detained him without incident, police said.

Officers said they then searched his home and found several guns, including one loaded, ammunition manufacturing materials, pepper spray, a pepper spray gun, brass/metal knuckles and a cane sword.

Erickson was arrested, booked into the San Mateo County Jail and charged with assault with a firearm on a person, criminal threats, possession of metal knuckles, possession of a cane sword, and unlawful possession of a tear gas weapon, police said.
