SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Peninsula first responders worked together Tuesday to reach an injured kitesurfer and airlift them to the hospital for treatment.

The San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department said the call came in from "Windsurfer Park" Tuesday afternoon. Due to the severity of the patient's injuries, medics rushed the patient by ambulance to a landing zone in Foster City.

Ground crews helped load the patient onto a Stanford Medicine Life Flight helicopter, which flew from Foster City to Stanford Hospital. The fire department shared a video on social media showing the helicopter landing in a clearing Tuesday afternoon.
