Leading Health Experts Will Meet In This Bay Area City

Healthcare providers and public health officials will come together in the Fall 2025.

SAN MATEO, CA — The latest in clinical health guidance for infections that affect the Bay Area will be discussed at an infectious disease conference this September in San Mateo.

San Mateo County Health will host the 2025 Peninsula Infectious Disease Conference from Sept. 9-10 at the College of San Mateo Theatre located at 700. W Hillsdale Blvd. in San Mateo.

“This conference not only provides an update on critical current infectious diseases but also reflects the strong collaboration between clinical care and public health,” said Catherine Sallenave, San Mateo County Health infectious diseases staff physician and communicable disease controller. “By fostering better information sharing and collaboration, we can improve patient care, strengthen our public health response and ultimately create healthier communities throughout our region.”

Areas that the conference will focus on include measles, long COVID, pediatric tuberculosis, Candida auris and other health care – associated infections, along with updates about maternal immunization during pregnancy, the role of the public health laboratory system in managing threats to public health and the impact of climate changes on emerging infectious diseases.

The in-person event is free and will be presented by the SMC Health’s Communicable Disease Control and Prevention Program. It is open to physicians, nurses, epidemiologists and other health care professionals across the Bay Area.

The theme will be “Bridging the Gap: Integrating Clinical Care and Public Health to Improve Patient Outcomes,” and will feature presentations by the California Department of Public Health, Stanford University, UC Davis, UCSF and San Mateo County Health experts.
