Minimum Wage To Increase In San Mateo In New Year
The local increase stems from the city council's goal to reach a $15 minimum wage prior to 2022, according to the city.

SAN MATEO, CA— San Mateo’s minimum wage will increase to $16.20 on Jan. 1, a slight bump from $15.62 in 2021.
The local increase stems from the city council’s goal to reach a $15 minimum wage prior to 2022, according to the city. The council sought to address the high cost of living in San Mateo, the city said.
After 2021, the minimum wage will shift according to the consumer price index (CPI). The 2022 $16.20 minimum wage is $15 per hour plus the 2020 CPI.
