The San José Police Department at around 9:50 p.m. alerted Pacifica authorities that they tracked a stolen vehicle to the coastal Peninsula city.

“Criminals will often steal vehicles to use in the commission of other crimes including armed robberies,” police said.

“Based on this knowledge, officers conducted a high risk contact with the occupants of the stolen vehicle. The suspect in the driver seat ignored officer’s repeated commands, exited the vehicle and began arguing with officers. The suspect’s statements became increasingly irrational and he began disrobing until he was nude.”

Acosta’s arrest culminated a 20-minute standoff, police said.

“After being placed in the back of a patrol vehicle, the suspect began violently kicking the inside of the patrol car causing damage,” police said.

“Due to his irrational behavior he was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.”
