Peninsula DUI Suspect Arrested After Vehicle Found Overturned

PACIFICA, CA — The driver of a vehicle whose vehicle was found overturned early Sunday was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Pacifica police said.

Gomes was transported to a sobering facility where he was released on a promise to appear in court on the DUI allegations, police said.

Officers at around 3 a.m. Sunday responding to the area of Monterey Road and Fremont Avenue on the report of a vehicle collision found the vehicle overturned in the middle of the roadway, police said.

Officers determined that Gomes had removed himself from his car after striking an unoccupied parked vehicle, causing his vehicle to overturn, police said.
Officers launched a DUI investigation after observing signs of intoxication during a conversation with the driver, police said.
The owner of the parked vehicle was located and was able to arrange for his vehicle to be towed from the scene, police said.
