Peninsula ‘Hamburglar’ Suspects Arrested

A receipt from a popular hamburger chain led to the arrest of two Peninsula burglary suspects, according to police.

DALY CITY, CA — A hamburger receipt helped lead to the arrest of two burglary suspects last week, authorities said.

The suspects, aged 19 and 32, both of San Francisco, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, identity theft and conspiracy and booked into jail, the Daly City Police Department said. The 32-year-old had two outstanding warrants, police said.

Officers responding to a 4:45 p.m. Aug. 17 report that a credit card fraud had just occurred at the Habit Burger Grill (305 Gellert Blvd.) found the victim who told police that he received notification that his lost credit card was used at the eatery and at Sephora.

About five minutes later officers detained both suspects after they exited the medical facility.

Both suspects were arrested after the victim and the other person confirmed that they were the same people they’d seen in inside the Habit Burger Grill, police said.

The suspects were in possession of merchandise from several Serramonte Shopping Center stores that still had price tags and security tags, police said.
