Peninsula Suspect Threatens To Jump From Overpass After Pursuit

The suspect was sought in an investigation for assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence and making criminal threat, authorities said.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A Peninsula suspect who led authorities on a freeway pursuit over the weekend was arrested after threatening to jump from a freeway overpass, authorities said.

The suspect was sought in an investigation for assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence and making criminal threat, the South San Francisco Police Department said on its Facebook page.

The agency provided mutual aid for the pursuit that began in Sunnyvale and ended on the Highway 101/380 on-ramp interchange, police said.

The driver exited the vehicle and was standing and sitting on the guardrail, according to police.
The SSFPD’s response including the agency’s Hostage Negotiation Team.

“After several hours of deescalation and negotiating, the suspect was safely taken into custody,” the agency said.
