Peninsula Woman Beheaded: Report

A man known to the victim was arrested on suspicion of murder, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A man was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of murder in connection with the killing of a San Carlos woman earlier in the day, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff's Office Lt. Eamon Allen said the crime did not occur in front of the victim's two children, as was previously reported by ABC 7, and picked up by Patch in an earlier version of this article.

The woman was between 23 and 27 years old, the television station reported.

Child Protective Services took custody of the victim's two children, both girls, 7 and 1 years of age, along with a dog and two cats that were in the house.

Deputies at around 11:50 a.m. were flagged down in the area of Magnolia Avenue and Laurel Street by witnesses reporting an assault in progress, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim was dead when deputies arrived on the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect was detained after he returned to the crime scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.


“The suspect was known to the victim and this is believed to be an isolated incident,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

“There is no outstanding threat to the community.”

The suspect and victim have not yet been identified as of late Thursday afternoon.
