PG&E Plans Gas Venting Thursday in Foster City

Service to customers is not expected to be interrupted during the work.

PG&E says it will be venting natural gas lines Thursday in the Foster City area.

According to PG&E, the process enhances their ongoing efforts in increasing the safety of PG&E lines. Workers will briefly vent natural gas during daytime hours in the vicinity of Beach Park/Polaris intersection (south); the Castor/Polaris intersection; and the Arcturus/Polaris intersection (north).

PG&E warns that as they perform the work, customers in the area may "briefly smell natural gas and hear the sound of it venting from the pipe," according to a release sent out.

"It will quickly dissipate into the atmosphere and is not harmful; however, safety is always our top priority, and we encourage anyone who has concerns about natural gas odors in or around their home or business to call us at 1-800-743-5000, so we can safely determine the specific cause."
