​Redwood City Man​ Arrested In Carjacking In San Mateo County

The suspect was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of carjacking, kidnapping and parole violation.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA —A Redwood City man was arrested on suspicion of carjacking after allegedly entering an occupied vehicle Saturday, forcing the driver to make a U-turn at an intersection, then fleeing, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred in North Fair Oaks, in unincorporated Redwood City, around 6 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff's office said.

The 27-year-old suspect, who the sheriff's office said is on parole for criminal threats, got into the front passenger seat and forced the driver to make a U-turn at the intersection of Middlefield Road and Pacific Avenue before jumping out of the car and fleeing, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies found the suspect at Fourth Avenue and Middlefield Road. He was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of carjacking, kidnapping and parole violation.
