San Mateo Co. Homeless Count Delayed Due To COVID Surge

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — The COVID-19 surge pushed back San Mateo County's annual one-day homeless count by a month to Feb. 24.
The count was originally scheduled for Jan. 27, but the county rescheduled it this week.
The one day tally determines the number of people experiencing homelessness in San Mateo County.

Volunteers are needed to help with the tally. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, attend a virtual training, pass a COVID-19 symptom screening and have a smart phone and a car.
Volunteers will only be assisting with the observation count, according to the sign-up form.

The count will take place from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Feb. 24 at various locations throughout the county. Volunteers will be divided into teams and will drive and walk around their designated areas to observe and count.
