San Mateo PD Announces 5K Run/Walk for Student Wellness
The San Mateo Police Activities League and Stride for Awareness will host a 5K Run/Walk for Student Wellness on May 21.
From the City of San Mateo Police Department: On Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 9am, the San Mateo Police Activities League and Stride for Awareness (an initiative developed by an Aragon High School student) are hosting a 5K Run/Walk for Student Wellness. The goal of this run is to bring our community together to raise awareness about the importance of Student Health & Mental Wellness. Our event will take place at Seal Point Park (1901 J. Hart Clinton Dr., San Mateo) and will be a chip-timed race on a now USTAF certified course.
In addition to the race, we will host a Resource Fair where attendees can visit the booths of M.A.D.D. (Mother’s Against Drunk Driving), the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the One Love Foundation, StarVista, Children’s Health Council, and many more in order to gather information to help improve the minds, bodies, and souls of ourselves and our youth.
Barre 3 will warm up racers before the start and Core Power Yoga will handle the cool down. We’ll have numerous vendors on-hand like Power Crunch Bars, Jamba Juice, and ZoomCaffe to get you fueled. Each participant will get a goodie bag, t-shirt, and medal. There’ll be giveaways, raffle prizes, and music.

A packet pick-up with speaker series is scheduled for the day before the run, Saturday, May 20th from 10-12pm at the Martin Luther King Center, 725 Monte Diablo Ave., San Mateo. From a student’s perspective, our speakers will discuss how we can change feeling insecure, overwhelmed and confused to feeling confident, in control and triumphant.
