Sheriff Addresses ICE Raids In This Bay Area County
The sheriff released a statement following ICE raids in San Francisco and protests throughout the Bay Area.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office released an official statement to address recent ICE raids in the Bay Area and Los Angeles.
“I want to reiterate our policy regarding the operations of ICE (U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement). Our policy complies with applicable state law. Additionally, our policy states that we ‘will comply only with judicial warrants,'" said Sheriff Christina Corpus.
Corpus said the SMC sheriff's office has not turned anyone over to ICE since she took office in January and that her office remains focused on public safety, crime prevention, and enforcing state and county ordinances.

"Regarding demonstrations, we respect and honor individuals’ First Amendment rights. We also want to remind community members that we will not tolerate any violence, harm to law enforcement or civilians, or destruction of property during protests,” Corpus said.
While Corpus has not had to turn anyone over to ICE, she is currently dealing with her own political standing as the board of supervisors voted on Thursday to remove her from her position.
