Teen Selling Cannabis And Carrying A Gun Arrested In San Mateo County

Police approached a group of teens and saw a bag of cannabis sitting in their car.

SAN MATEO, CA — Police said they approached a group of teen boys Sunday in San Mateo, smelled cannabis and then saw a bag of cannabis sitting in plain view in their car.

At 6:09 p.m. on Sunday, San Mateo Police Department officers said they contacted a group of teens and one adult man on the 400 block of Rogell Avenue.

In plain view, the officer observed loose, unpackaged cannabis inside a car belonging to a 17-year-old boy.

Police said they searched the car and found two pistols, one of which was unregistered, and one that was previously reported stolen. Cannabis packaged for sale was also located, along with a functioning digital scale, and $661 in cash.

Police said they arrested the 17-year-old boy for possession of a loaded, concealed firearm and possession of marijuana for sale.

The teen was transported to Hillcrest Juvenile Hall, and the cash was collected and entered as asset forfeiture, police said.
