2 San Rafael Shooting Suspects Arrested: Cops

The shooting was reported early Tuesday morning by a convenience store clerk, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Two Central Valley women were arrested in connection with a shooting in San Rafael early Tuesday morning that left a juvenile victim with injuries that required hospitalization, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his left upper thigh, police said. He was treated and released.

Alaytreya Gregory, 28, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and supervising/aiding a prostitute, and Satearah Murphy, 32, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, prostitution, and aiding and abetting a felony, police said.

The shooting was reported at around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday by a convenience store clerk in the 900 block of East Francisco Boulevard after the wounded boy entered the store, police said.

The boy told officers that he was in the area of Medway Road and Belvedere Street when he was approached by a female who engaged him in conversation.

He eventually entered a car occupied by another female, and he and the two female suspects travelled to a parking lot in the area of Grand Avenue and East Francisco Boulevard, police said.

While in the parking lot, an argument ensued and one of the females pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the leg, police said.

The victim exited the car and both females fled in the vehicle, police said.

The victim walked from that location to the convenience store where the clerk called 911.

SRPD detectives obtained video footage of the two suspects and their vehicle, including the license plate number, police said.

Detectives sent out information to law enforcement agencies in the Bay Area and Sacramento that led to the suspects’ arrests.

At around 3 am on Wednesday the Antioch Police Department alerted the SRPD that it had the vehicle stopped with both suspects inside, police said.

SRPD detectives responded and took custody of the suspects and the vehicle.

Both suspects made incriminating statements and admissions regarding the shooting, police said.
