Less Than 20K Ballots Left To Tally In Marin County
Staffers worked through the weekend to count thousands of ballots received on Election Day.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — Marin County election workers have made steady progress in counting more than 45,000 ballots received on Election Day, and fewer than 20,000 remained after Wednesday's update, according to officials.
Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts said her team had the Election Day ballots sorted and verified by election night, so they were ready to be removed from their envelopes and counted in the following days.
"It was truly an extraordinary effort, and I am very proud of the team's hard work," Roberts said. "The team is doing a great job every day preparing hundreds of ballots for counting. We want every eligible vote to be counted."

The deadline to accept ballots postmarked by Election Day passed Tuesday, leaving a firm goal of roughly 20,000 ballots left to tabulate. After the remaining ballots are counted, Roberts estimates turnout for the March primary will land at 53 percent.
The next update to results is due Friday by 5 p.m. The mandated manual audit of at least 1 percent of the ballots cast is scheduled to begin Monday.
