SAN RAFAEL, CA — The competitive element of the Marin County Fair will return in person for the first time since 2019, and officials on Friday revealed the categories that participants can consider vying for.

The fair's theme this year is "Electrifying!" and will celebrate all things electric and solar. Organizers are recruiting creative community members to take part in the longstanding competition, which typically features thousands of entries, including performing arts, photography, fine wine and art.

"The competitive exhibits program is the heart and soul of our fair," said Gabriella Calicchio, director of cultural services. "We are absolutely thrilled to bring it back in person this year and look forward to seeing electrifying, super-charged, and inspired entries in all categories. Fairgoers come to our fair to see their neighbors' creativity and talents and see the latest in new and innovative exhibits, and we can't wait to showcase the talents of everyone in our community."
