Marin Ranks Among State’s Most Racially Unequal: Report
Marin ranked No. 2 for racial disparity in a report issued by a prominent civil rights group. It took the top spot in 2018.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin has been ranked the state’s second most racially unequal county by a prominent civil rights group, The Marin Independent Journal reports.
The Los Angeles-based Advancement Project California had previously ranked Marin as No. 1 in the state for racial disparities in a 2018 report.
The group’s representatives presented the findings of an update of its 2018 report to First 5 Marin, a child and family advocacy group last week, the IJ reports.

Mono County moved up from No. 3 in the 2018 study to the top spot this year, according to the report.
The APJ ranks the state’s 58 counties based on seven metrics: economic opportunity, access to healthcare, education, housing, democracy and justice and healthy built environments, according to the organization’s website.
