Marin Sex Offender Probation Sweep Nets 3 Arrests

The Probation Department's High Risk Supervision Unit led the operation.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A Marin sex offender probation sweep Tuesday led to three arrests for parole violations, the Marin County Probation Department said.

The sweep involved unannounced searches of 26 Marin registered and unregistered sex offenders at 19 residents across the county, the agency said.

The searches were conducted by County Probation officers, Marin County Sheriff’s detectives, State of California parole agents, police officers from San Rafael and Novato, and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation K9 units.

The Probation Department’s High Risk Supervision Unit led the operation.

“Operations like these are a critical component of overall community safety,” Probation Chief Marlon Washington said in a statement.

“When they’re out in the field, our officers ensure sex offender adherence with requirements of their probation and parole compliances. Regular contact with our clients supports them as well. We can direct them to services if they are in need.

“The pandemic has been tough on everyone, but it can’t prevent our team from important neighborhood safety and client support efforts.”
